Introduction to GEOVIS® Diutan Gum

GEOVIS® Diutan Gum helps to optimise the rheological profile of drilling fluids and water-based circulating systems by increasing viscosity at low shear rates. It also improves suspension and the carrying capacity, especially under low flow rate conditions. Functional in freshwater and seawater, even at low concentrations, GEOVIS® Diutan Gum helps to reduce daily maintenance treatments and retains its strength at elevated temperatures (up to 310° F).

GEOVIS® Diutan Gum is suitable for a variety of thickening and suspending applications. 

GEOVIS® Diutan Gum and can be used to thicken and suspend weighted and unweighted drilling fluids. It is designed to provide viscosity in wells of various depths where performance is critical. 

GEOVIS® Diutan Gum acts as a viscosifier for spacer fluids, imparting benefits at low use levels. 

GEOVIS® Diutan Gum is compatible with applications that require very high suspending characteristics, making it an ideal candidate for adding to concrete mixes to assist with slurry stability and fluid loss control. The viscosity of diutan gum is higher in alkaline environments and the presence of calcium ions, such as fresh cement paste.

Made by microbial fermentation, GEOVIS® Diutan Gum was developed specifically for a wide range of industrial applications. It has exceptional thermal stability and is readily biodegradable.
